Designed to be used dry, the powder and pigments create a matte, velvety texture. It contains Silica, which helps to maintain a matte finish by absorbing oils on the skin, as well as Talc to provide a smoother, less reflective, matte finish. It does not cake or run like some foundations however, it is extremely matte so if you have dry skin use a heavier moisturizer. With its particularly velvety, silky texture, It will you an excellent experience of applying and blending. You could try both wet and dry applications. As usual, the dry one provides light to medium-full coverage. However, you may face the risk of a cakey with the wet one. It feels good when you are not wearing a lot of makeup and want some light coverage, and this product allows your skin to breathe.
If your skin type is typical, to some degree, oily or dry, I would highly recommend this product. Even though the shades are in some way repetitive, all of the colors are remarkable for a broad range of skin tones.

- before applying the powder foundation, add some essence and eye cream on your foundation brush, and lightly blend it on your face. In this way, the brush absorbs the moisturizing ingredients and mixes it up with the foundation you apply, which will make the look much natural.
- To make the powder foundation thinner and fits, you need a special flat top brush. MAC has this 196 Slanted Flat Top Foundation Brush, and this is what I currently use. It has a flat slanted top, which could make the foundation reaches every contour of your face. Unlike the sponge blenders, this brush features the ultra-smooth short bristles which would not absorb most of your foundation. It is the perfect tool for water weight foundations.
- Firstly apply the powder evenly on your entire face, then continue to use the same brush to conceal the troublesome spots. Use a regular sponge to press it lightly will lift the cover, and not feeling heavy on your face.
- You don't have to brush the finishing powder all over your face. Instead, try to apply a small amount only on the oily part of your face.

Hints:
- Hot colors for Asian: NC20 NC25.
- If you have light skin, you should try NC15 and NC20.
- Avoid these colors due to pink, orange, or peach: C6, NC42, NW25, NW30, NW40, and NC40.
- All shade with NC or C is a yellow undertone, which is my choice.
- NW or W is a pink undertone.
- If you have dry skin, it is better to do moisturizing before applying.
Mac Studio Fix Powder plus Foundation is a product that will always be special to me because i created a huge scene in the MAC store to get it . The MUA had forced NC 44 on to me which was way to dark, and then refused to exchange it. Not one to be outdone, i stood there saying i wasnt going to leave till she did something about it and the senior makeup artist very promptly agreed to change it! Then i became the proud owner of MAC NC 42 Studio Fix Foundation. I feel i have an identity now- Hello, Im Priyam and im an NC 42 !
Mac Studio Fix Powder plus foundation is a multi purpose product which is great for oily skinned girls like me. The powder mattifies the skin and has great coverage, so your skin looks more even and smooth. The finish , even though its matte is not cakey…and you end up with a very natural looking result inspite of the heavy coverage . One of the best things about this, is that it lasts the entire day on me. I mean, i can go sweat it out in the sun, and come back home after ten hours and it would still be on my face – so if you are looking for base options for a wedding, this is a really good option.
If you are a fan of the dewy finish, you can always use highlighter on top of this for that, but this alone is not a ‘dewy' finish product. For a person like me, who is always battling with oily skin and who breaks out with every second thing that touches my face (I pity my future husband), this is a life saver. It gives me that extra coverage to hide my acne and still does not cause further break outs. I dont know whether i would recommend wearing this every single day, because it is heavy on the skin and i like to let my skin breathe…but for special occasions i dont look past my Mac Studio Fix! Its one of thoese foundations tht looks great on camera too!
For those of you who dont want the powder version, Studio Fix also comes in a liquid version as well as a cream version. Those version are probably better suited to those with dry skins like my sister, but for me i find this suits me the most!
